SC Node proved that a controlled Rust runtime could sit between AI models and local tools while enforcing visible boundaries. That public proof remains valuable and intentionally stays public.
Why build a second generation?
A successful prototype often accumulates responsibilities that the next product does not need on every request. ARKTOR Node was our opportunity to reduce mandatory responsibilities and move optional capabilities back to modular product layers.
What stayed
Permission-bounded machine access, scoped workspaces, auditable outcomes and a small execution surface remained important design principles.
What changed
Optional concerns such as memory, browser work, desktop interaction, connectivity and model-provider choices were treated as separable product capabilities rather than reasons to grow one permanent runtime.
Why SC Node stays public
SC Node documents the earlier design and its source. ARKTOR is a later commercial direction informed by those lessons, not a rename. Public SC Node details should not be read as a specification of current proprietary ARKTOR internals.
What we no longer publish
The current execution hot path, capability discovery contract, trust catalogue, signing model, routing and integration topology are implementation details. The public product claim is simpler: keep the execution boundary understandable, permissioned, modular and measurable.
